Frequently Asked Questions

8am - until

Once we have all of the information needed to book an appointment we come to your front door. Our units are set up to include our own power and water source. Occasionally, we may ask to hookup to water or power if the need arises. Fortunately that is not a frequent need.

Our salons were created to be self sustainable.

Once we arrive all we need are specific grooming instructions and to be introduced to your furry family members.

It is best to make the transition from owner to groomer a seamless one, as to not upset the pet.

Mobile grooming is tailored to the individual needs of your pet. Every appointment will be held to a standard of making your pet comfortable, safe, and clean during their session with Hairloom.

Mobile is a luxury service, our grooming sessions are one on one. We are unable to take more than one appointment at a time with travel time included in our day.

The cost of mobile operation is much more expensive than a traditional salon.

Cats do lick their coats, by doing this they are pushing the dirt, dander, and oils deep into their fur.

Professional Grooming is necessary in removing dead undercoat for both long and short- haired kitties.

Regular Grooming reduces the amount of hairballs.

Proper bathing can alleviate the amount of dry or oily skin you may be noticing.

4-8 weeks is the recommended schedule for routine coat care and maintenance. The schedule may vary based on breed specific needs.

Matting occurs when the coats curls tighten around themselves and form clumps/knots of hair.

Matting can become a pelt of fur if left long enough without proper coat care.  A pelt is a solid piece of fur/hair that has no degree of separation left. It is very tight to the skin and becomes one solid clump of hair/fur.

Once the coat has made it to this stage there is no saving it.

The coat will have to be shaved off and start regrowth of the coat.

Line brushing your pet can prevent any degree of matting.

What that means is to lift the hair inch by inch and comb out from the skin to the end of the hair shaft.

Using a metal comb and slicker/pin brush in tandem will leave the coat knot free.

Keeping your pet mat free is important. Matting is painful for your pet and a major irritation to the skin.

Breaking up those mats can be painful, irritating, and detrimental to the physical and mental health of your pet.

If your pet has become matted do NOT bath before getting those out.

Water will tighten the clumps of fur/hair and make it much harder, potentially resulting in shaving, to remove those.
